Late of Murray Street, Camden Town in the County of Middlesex, surgeon, deceased who died 1st November 1859 at 20 Stratford Place, Camden Town aforesaid will was proved at Principal Registry by the oath of Frances Eastcott of 18 High Street in the City of Exeter, spinster the sister and the sole executrix. The parents of Richard Ducke Eastcott are Richard and Frances Eastcott nee Roach – 2nd wife (married 27th May 1784 at Ide – source: Devon FHS 100% Marriages) – I have the wills of both Richard Eastcott the Reverend of Exeter and his wife Frances Eastcott. Richard D Eastcott married twice – first to Catherine Dyball (died 1842) and second Catherine Haseler in 1853 in Weymouth (In the 1861 census Catherine Eastcott, age 33, stating widow, born Heavitree, Exeter, Devon, was living with her widowed mother Elizabeth Haseler, age 65, fundholder, born Westminster, Middlesex at 20 Sydney Bridge, Bathwick, Bath, Somerset). Richard Duck Eastcott was christened ? twice 20th July 1798 in St Sidwell, Exeter, Devon and 26th August 1799 St Sidwell, Exeter and Richard has a sister Frances Eastcott who was christened on 14th September 1794 at St Peter Cathedral, Exeter and brother Edwin Eastcott who was christened 20th November 1790 at St Peter Cathedral, Exeter (Source: IGI). Richard Duke Eastcott and Catherine Dyball had 4 children according to the IGI: Richard Vaughan Eastcott born 21st July 1830 and christened 16th February 1831 at Old Church, St Pancras, London; James Crowder Eastcott born 25th April 1829 and christened 18th June 1829 at Old Church, St Pancras, London; Charles Jerome Eastcott born 21st January 1836 and christened 18th February 1836 at Old Church, St Pancras, London and Fanny Catherine Eastcott born 2nd December 1834 and christened on 15th January 1835 at Old Church, St Pancras, London. There appears to be another brother called Theodore Francis Eastcott who is cited in Richard Vaughan Eastcott’s Admon in 1861 and born 1838.

Richard Vaughan Eastcott was born 21st July 1830 and christened 16th February 1831 at Old Church, St Pancras, London and is the son of Richard Ducke Eastcott and Catherine Dyball. There is an RV Eastcott that travelled on the ship ‘Africa’ from Liverpool to New York, USA and arrived in NY on 13th August 1851 stating his age was 26 (thus birth year 1825) – Source: New York Passenger Lists 1851-1891.

William Eastcott was found in the 1861 census as a married man (but living on own with a housekeeper) age 61 (thus born around 1800) and born in Devonport, Devon, he was a Carrier employing 1 man and 3 boys) and lived at Ebenezer Place, Gainsborough.

Theodore married Elizabeth ? surname in 1862 in Marylebone. In the 1861 census Theodore (age 23, a Medical Student at Kings College, born St Pancras, Middlesex) was living as a lodger with other medical students at 24 Villiers Street, St Martin in Fields, Westminster, London.

Martha Eastcott formerly of Holt in the County of Wiltshire but late of Plymouth, Devon, widow who died 30th December 1881 at Buckland Street, Plymouth was proved at Exeter to Robert Studley Eastcott of 4 Penrose Street, Plymouth, Machine Belt and Leather Hose Manufacturer, the son, one of the Executors. Martha (nee Baynton) is the wife of Edwin Eastcott (Clerk) and they married on 18th March 1822 at the parish church in Walcott, St Swithin, Somerset (Source: Somerset Marriages post 1754). Edwin is the son of Richard Eastcott and Frances Roach and is the brother to Richard Ducke Eastcott and Frances Eastcott. Martha and Edwin had 6 children: Emily Ducke Eastcott baptised 10th December 1822 at St David, Exeter; Arthur Ducke Eastcott baptised 30th August 1824 at Saint Peter Cathedral, Exeter; Robert Studley Eastcott baptised 24th December 1825 at Saint Olave, Exeter; Frances Vaughan Eastcott baptised 14th February 1827 at Saint Olave, Exeter; Louisa Eastcott born approx 1828; and Margaret Roach Eastcott baptised 4th February 1830 at Saint David Exeter. Unable to find them on the 1841 and 1851 census. By the 1861 census Edwin had died as founding Martha (age 57, born Corsham, Wiltshire, a ‘Fundholder’) as a widow living at 22 Athenaeum Street, St Andrews, Plymouth with her daughter Louisa Eastcott (under surname EAGCOTT - age 32, born Exeter, Devon, a Clergyman’s Daughter). In the 1871 census Martha (age 67, born Corsham, Wiltshire) was living with her servant Ellen Smith at Philises Cottage at Bradford on Avon, Holt, Wiltshire. Robert Studley Eastcott in the 1861 census (surname transcribed in index as EASTCOTH - age 36, born Exeter, Devon, an Engine Hose and Fire Bucket Maker) was living with his first wife Ann ? surname who was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire and adopted daughter Susan Ratcliff (age 13, born Westminster, Middlesex) at 12 Lemon Row, Trinity, Newington, Surrey. Ann must have died before 1865 as Robert married again to Martha V (? Surname (Source: Marriage index: 1865, December Q, Newington, 1d 406). In the 1871 census Robert (age 42, a Hose Maker) and Martha V (age 28 and born Greenwich, Kent) were living at 6 ? Cress Street, St Mary Newington, Lambeth, London. In 1881 census Robert (age 56, a Leather Hose and Mill Band Maker) and wife Martha V (age 38) were living at 20 Manor Street, East Stonehouse, Devon. Martha died in 1888 (Source: Death index: 1888, December Q, Plymouth, 5b 169) and on 9th November 1889 he married Lina Jane Elizabeth Matthews at St Andrews Plymouth (Source: Plymouth Marriages – Vol 1). In the 1891 census Robert (age 65, a Machine Belt Maker and a Lodging House Keeper) and Lina (age 42, born Gwennap, Cornwall) were living at 6 Clarenden Place, St Andrew, Plymouth, Devon with Ida M Matthews (Lina’s daughter) and a servant. Lina remarried to a James Tall in 1899 – do not know what has happened to Robert Studley Eastcott as find no death indexes and not on 1901 census - ? if gone abroad.

Late of Pengelly in the Parish of St Teath, in the County of Cornwall, quarryman who died 22nd May 1883 at Higher Pengelly was proved at Bodmin by Margaret Eastcott of Higher Pengelly, widow, the relict, the sole executrix. John Eastcott is the illegitimate son of Ann Eastcott and was born 23rd march 1817. He married Margaret Kellow. The descendants of John and Margaret start the New Zealand branch.

His father is William Eastcott a ropemaker (as stated on his marriage certificate). Have not able to find in 1861 and 1871 census. In the 1881 census William (age 28, born Plymouth and a Newspaper Reporter) and Eleanor (age 23 and born Devonport) were living at 2 George Street, Stoke Damerel, Devon with daughter Eleanor M Eastcott age 10 months (born Devonport in 1880). In the 1891 census William (age 39, born Plymouth, a Journalist) and Eleanor (age 33 and born Devonport) were living at 10 Stockwell Park Road, Clapham, Lambeth, London with 5 of their children: Eleanor Marie Eastcott (born 1880, Devonport); Isabell Kate Eastcott (born 1881, Devonport); William Louis C Eastcott (born 1883 in Bermondsey); Madeline Margaret Eastcott (born 1885, Bermondsey) and Emmeline Edith Eastcott (born 1890, Stockwell, Lambeth, London). There is a John Wills Eastcott born in 1808 and he died in 1895, March Q, Plymouth, 5b 264 - ? if related to this family as they married in 1805 and at present appears first child born 1817 – 12 years after they married.
